...New AVIATION...

.SHORT TERM...
(Today through Friday)
Issued at 112 AM CDT THU AUG 7 2025

Wedge of high pressure along the East Coast is weaker but still
present this morning. With much less cloudcover there is a risk
for patchy fog, though clouds will increase in coverage towards
daybreak. Not seeing a whole lot of isentropic lift, but enough
models show light QPF with a moist 925-850mb layer to include a
slight chance for showers this morning similar to yesterday. Flow
aloft will be northerly to northeasterly today as a ridge axis
builds eastward towards the Mid-Mississippi Valley from the 600
decameter anticyclone over New Mexico. A trough remains across
Georgia and the Carolinas with an embedded upper low and an axis
extending southwestward to the Gulf. With limited 1000-500mb mean
RH values and weak subsidence, expect convection to remain
isolated today, but a few weak vort maxes in the northerly flow
aloft could be a trigger. Highs will be warmer than recent days
but still a couple degrees below normal given the low-level
easterly flow.

On Friday the mid-level ridge axis will continue to build
eastward towards the Lower Ohio Valley, while southern portions of
the Southeast trough begin to form a weak/broad upper low over
the northern Gulf. With another surge of dry easterly flow at low-
levels, PoPs will remain on the lower side again, with high
temperatures similar to today.

.LONG TERM...
(Friday night through next Wednesday)
Issued at 112 AM CDT THU AUG 7 2025

Over the weekend the broad upper circulation over the Gulf will
continue to retrograde westward, while ridging builds over the
eastern CONUS downstream of a seasonally strong trough over the
Northern Plains. The wedge high will become more of a Bermuda
high, with tropical PWATs and associated high rain chances
beginning to increase from the southeast. Continued easterly
winds will keep the heat in check. These tropical (> 2 inch) PWATs
will stick around for the rest of the extended forecast period,
with above normal rain chances and a risk of locally heavy
rainfall with slow-moving storms. Temperatures and heat indices
will increase as subtropical ridging strengthens over the
Southeast, but the higher coverage of afternoon convection should
help keep heat indices below 105F through Wednesday.

.AVIATION...
(12Z TAFS)
Issued at 542 AM CDT THU AUG 7 2025

Reduced CIGS will continue to linger through the morning, before
mixing out back to VFR by 07/17z. From there, VFR conditions are
anticipated for the entire TAF period.

.FIRE WEATHER...

No issues from fire weather elements are expected over the coming
days. Daily showers and thunderstorms will be most focused on the
afternoon to evening time frame, though these will be more
isolated the next couple of days. 20-foot winds will be light,
except variable and gusty in and near showers and thunderstorms.
